Notties hotel has decided to make Tuesday night a fundraiser night for Notties PrePrimary and Music Literacy Africa which is headed up by Helen Mennie.
This will be every Tuesday night to encourage the Mum’s/Wives to come in with their husbands and kids and enjoy a light meal. Allow the kids to play and have some fun. The Kiddies will be supervised every Tuesday allowing the folks to relax a little between 4.30 – 7.30 @ R35 per child will include their meal and colouring in and entry into the monthly draw. We have started up a kiddies room with games, colouring, TV and DVD in there.
Music Literacy Africa is a 2-pronged project:
- Firstly, making formal music education available to children in rural areas. Music Literacy Africa offers class music
from foundation phase through to senior primary school learners. From this broad base children who show aptitude and inclination will be given the opportunity to
advance their skills. We aim to teach music literacy, instrumental proficiency, musical expression and performance. - Secondly, creating youth employment through the training of students in the art of teaching music through courses and mentorship. Many rural children do not have the opportunity to study further after Grade 12. Music Literacy Africa has as part of its vision, the employment of past students who have excelled in the music programme, to teach the skill, art and passion of making music in other schools and communities.
Our mission is to develop positive values and empower people’s sense of self worth. The tuition is aimed at benefiting the child by developing a strong work ethic, communication and life skills and providing them with the necessary foundation to succeed at anything they might do. We also aim at giving people the experience of belonging and being part of a project that achieves and that is successful.
